Today is a day that I can’t quite put into words, but I’m going to try. Today, my book is officially available and out in the world!
Perhaps you read my earlier post about the process of writing this book. It’s been a journey. But today I want to share something a little different with you: this book represents what is possible for each of us.
3 years ago when I started The Storytelling Non-Profit, I was 24-year-old, big dreamer who sensed that I could do more. I wanted to learn, inspire, and educate. I wanted to find a way to make a substantial contribution to the non-profit sector beyond my fundraising work. I wanted to change the conversation about fundraising and communication (You can read more about that story here).
I feel confident in saying that much of what I’ve written and spoken about in the last few years has changed how people are thinking about and doing storytelling. It’s been exciting beyond my wildest dreams.
In fact, this is a dream that just keeps on getting better. Publishing The Storytelling Non-Profit book is one of the many embodiments of this for me.
I never thought I could write a book. I never thought it would be possible to successfully self-publish. I never imagined that I could do work that truly lights me up each and every day. Yet, here I am.
I have so much gratitude for the 10,000+ people who reach my blog each month. The thousands of people who have come to see me speak and attended my online trainings. The countless people who email me each week to tell me how something I’ve written has influenced them.
This book and my work would have never been possible without the amazing community that surrounds it. I admire and honor each and every one of you.
I hope that I can continue to serve and support you through my new book.
Congratulations Vanessa! Looking forward to reading your book. Sharing stories – and teaching others to share stories – is such a valuable contribution to the world – and to the nonprofits you serve.
Thank you so much, Kirsten!
Hi Vanessa,
I ordered and am devouring your book right now. Actually, right now I’m putting to use “Interviewing Someone You’ve Helped” for their story, as I prepare to do just that. Thanks for pulling this book together. It’s great!
Nadia – I’m so delighted to hear that you’re enjoying the book! Let me know how your interview goes.
