Don’t Forget Gratitude

As the gifts are rolling in this month, do you have a plan for stewardship?

I was recently at a client meeting that was very focused on discussing the year-end campaign strategy. Suddenly it dawned on me that we had not even mentioned stewardship, so I asked, “What happens after someone makes a gift.” The answer was short – they get a thank you letter. That was it and it is so not enough!

As I mentioned in a post the other day, we are often so focused on asking being the only way that we can raise money that we forget that there are other important relationship building mechanisms that can directly impact giving. Chief among them being stewardship.
